EVENTS IN ÜBERLINGEN

Christmas – a time to pause and a time for inspiration

As every year, we celebrate Christmas in a familiar, family atmosphere, without obligations, rush or excesses – but with joy and great attention to detail. At Buchinger Wilhelmi, we focus on values and ideals that connect people. They enrich and fulfil us both in our encounters with ourselves and in our encounters with others. The personal retreat that fasting allows us to take enables us to pause and reflect on what is essential: treating our fellow human beings with respect – and, last but not least, ourselves.

Our Christmas programme for 2025 combines culture, art and spirituality to create soothing moments of regeneration. From literary inspiration to studio time and concerts – for a time that nourishes, clarifies and sustains.

 “My 2025 writing workshop | 28 December 2025 to 4 January 2026
with Dr. Dorothée Gommen-Hingst

“Ikigai” is a concept rooted in Japanese culture. It broadly refers to something that brings joy, a purpose in life and fulfilment. In this workshop, we will explore this idea of finding meaning by offering some creative inspiration for your writing, with a focus on six important aspects of human existence: health, occupation, relationships, spirituality, finances and leisure time. The period between Christmas and New Year is an ideal time to examine your own inner compass, reflect on it in writing, and set the course for the year ahead.

As well as spending time in our writing workshop, there will be opportunities for meditation and discussions in small groups. Whether you are a beginner or already have some experience, join us to discuss key issues in your life, put them into words, and define your own viewpoint – all in a safe environment. The aim of the workshop is to connect in a loving way with yourself and others in joy and serenity, to recognise and accept yourself, and to find words to express this.
