To overcome negative emotions and to practice love and compassion are the bases of Buddhist teachings. When we give love and kindness to our fellow humans and live a compassionate approach towards all sentient beings, then we experience a deep feeling of happiness. This happiness is independent of external influences and disturbing factors, it is all-embracing and unconditional. To be compassionate means to have the strong wish that all sentient beings might be free from suffering. When we practice compassion, we empathize with our fellow humans and try to help them as much as we can; until the other one is freed from suffering.
