Frailty, the increasing vulnerability that often accompanies ageing, is a key factor limiting independence and quality of life in later years. In March 2026, the Scientific Meeting of UNION will take place in Italy \u201e<strong>U<\/strong>NDERSTA<strong>N<\/strong>DING FRA<strong>I<\/strong>LTY T<strong>O<\/strong>WARDS A FUTURE OF HEALTHY AGEI<strong>N<\/strong>G\u201c.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;20px&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;12px&#8221;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;102332&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; onclick=&#8221;custom_link&#8221; img_link_target=&#8221;_blank&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221; link=&#8221;https:\/\/www.buchinger-wilhelmi.com\/fastenklinik-am-bodensee\/&#8221;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;12px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;12px&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]Leading universities and research institutions across Europe are part of this initiative. Buchinger Wilhelmi is proud to contribute as an associated partner, bringing decades of clinical experience and research in therapeutic fasting into the scientific dialogue. As fasting influences key pathways related to metabolism, inflammation, and cellular resilience, it represents a promising intervention strategy within the broader framework of healthy ageing research.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;20px&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_empty_space height=&#8221;20px&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]A key objective of UNION is to foster the next generation of scientists in ageing research. The programme supports 17 doctoral researchers across Europe (13 PhD Students) and UK (4 PhD students). In this context, we are working closely with <strong>Prof. Massimiliano Ruscica<\/strong> and his team at the Universit\u00e0 degli Studi di Milano. Studies have already been published showing that <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1007\/s00394-021-02578-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">long term fasting can improve lipoprotein associated atherogenic risk<\/a> in humans.
