PANORAMA SAUNA BELLEVUE – A NEW SPACE FOR REGENERATION
Opening on 17 January 2026 at Buchinger Wilhelmi in Überlingen
Overlooking Lake Constance, a new sanctuary of calm and renewal is taking shape: the Panorama Sauna Bellevue. Opening on 17 January 2026, it enriches the therapeutic offering of our clinic with a space that brings together warmth, nature and conscious stillness. Wide panoramic windows frame the lake and surrounding hills, inviting body and mind into gentle relaxation. Use of the Panorama Sauna Bellevue is included in the stay for all guests. The entire area is barrier-free and fully accessible for wheelchair users.
A sauna landscape connecting nature and wellbeing
The Panorama Sauna Bellevue offers three complementary heat and light experiences across a total area of 150 m²:
🌿 Bio Sauna (50-65°C) – gentle, balancing and circulation-friendly – 10 m²
With its mild climate, moderate temperatures and soft lighting, the bio sauna provides a gentle warmth that is well suited for guests with lower blood pressure. It has a calming effect, supports circulation and promotes a sense of inner stability.
♨️ Finnish Sauna (80-90°C) – invigorating, traditional, energizing – 19 m²
The classic form of sauna bathing. The dry heat acts like a mild cardiovascular stimulus and may improve vascular function. This is also where our daily infusion rituals (Aufgüsse) take place – soothing ceremonies that distribute heat harmoniously and deepen awareness of breath and body.
🌊 Brine-Infrared Sauna (35-45 °C) – deep warming, muscle-relaxing, restorative – 12 m²
Infrared emitters integrated into the seating provide a deep, penetrating warmth that reaches muscles and connective tissue, helping to release tension. A softly illuminated salt-stone wall creates a calming ambience, while fine brine particles gently support respiratory health. It is an ideal choice for guests seeking muscular recovery or a milder heat experience.
All three saunas are designed to complement the therapeutic effects of fasting, enhancing relaxation, circulation and natural physiological rhythms. The Panorama Sauna Bellevue follows a textile-free concept. Guests who prefer light covering may use a towel or pestemal.
Opening hours
Daily:
8 am until 12 pm
2 pm until 9 pm
A time for rituals: Infusions and deep rest
From the opening day onwards, regular infusion rituals will be offered – classic, aromatic or gentle, tailored to the needs of our guests. They will take place once daily at 11:15 am in the Finnish Sauna. Designed to promote calm, support circulation and intensify the restorative effect of warmth, these rituals are further enriched by the use of singing bowls and selected organic essential oils by Dr. Valnet from our in-house shop.
The interplay of warmth, fragrance and sound harmonises the autonomic nervous system and deepens relaxation. The immune system is strengthened. In addition, sauna infusions gently stimulate circulation without overtaxing it. This ritual aligns particularly well with the fasting metabolism, as both fasting and sauna infusions work with mild stimuli that promote recovery, inner clarity and balanced metabolism.

Afterwards, an outdoor and relaxation area with lake views invites guests to let the soothing stillness linger after the sauna session. Two foot basins enable a gentle Kneipp application to activate circulation and support cardiovascular balance.
A space for mindful restoration
To support safe and pleasant sauna use, guests will find a water station with chilled water and freshly prepared infused water each day. Herbs, lemon, cucumber or ginger offer subtle flavours that accompany fasting and support recovery.
The design of the Panorama Sauna Bellevue reflects the same principles that guide our fasting programmes: a mindful use of personal resources, a return to inner balance and an environment that naturally supports wellbeing. Warmth, water, light and silence come together to create an atmosphere where body and mind can settle deeply. The new sauna landscape thus becomes a meaningful part of the guest experience at Buchinger Wilhelmi.
Health benefits – Recommendations by Dr Robin Mesnage
Sauna bathing is not only a place of rest but also brings measurable benefits for health. It influences cardiovascular function, stress regulation and muscular recovery. Our scientific director, Dr Robin Mesnage, highlights three well-established effects:
- Cardiovascular health
Regular sauna sessions are associated with lower blood pressure, improved vascular function and a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease. Heat acts much like gentle exercise for the heart. - Stress relief and deep relaxation
Following heat exposure, the parasympathetic nervous system becomes activated, allowing the body to enter a state of restorative calm. Stress hormones decrease, while mood and sleep quality may improve. - Improved circulation and muscle recovery
Sauna heat enhances blood flow to muscles and joints, helping to ease tension, soreness and stiffness.
These effects complement the physiological processes of fasting and align naturally with the holistic therapeutic approach of our clinic.
Looking ahead – Sauna weeks 2026 with Dr Siegfried Bäumler
